The quilt featured above was kindly made and donated by Margie Mott especially for the quilt retreat. The very lucky and deserving winner was Meg Doe. Congratulations Meg and thank you to Margie.

What can I say? Another fantastic time was had by all at our second retreat held at Douglas Gully Scrub at McLaren Flat. The weekend was full of surprises, fun and lots of laughter, food glorious food, and some serious sewing as well. I would like to sincerely thank our co ordinators Margie Mott and Meg Doe for every single little detail they managed to achieve that made the weekend so special for everyone. I can only imagine how exhausted everyone would have been last night - a little too much of too many good things???? So girls if you have not been able to get there yet make a date and sign up for next year. You will have the time of your life!

Kurralta Park Kindergarten

I have been busy making new doll's bed patchwork quilts for the kindy where my daughter has just taken up the job of director, 2 little bed /bassinet quilts and 2 for doll prams. I will try to post pictures in the fullness of time. Margot (said daughter) gave me measurement in cm, so I had to make them up as near as possible in quilter's inches ! I had equipped the other Kindy (Plympton Sth) with quilts and cushions and things. I am enjoying doing this as I am the proud owner of a new sewing machine.........Bernina 440 with the BSR ...............Stitch Regulator, so I can practise on small projects. This is a practice Blog Post too so hope it works. Thanks to Judi for the welcome and info . Barbara C.

2008 AGM report

The AGM was held last week and we said farewell to our outgoing committee. We would all like to thank Elizabeth, Marlene, Hazel, Barbara, Mary and Yvonne for their energy, enthusiasm and leadership over the past 12 months. You have all left your fingerprints on our group and we will carry the memories of the many happy events you helped to organise.

We would also like to welcome our new committee.

President Meg Doe

Vice President / Promotions officer Elizabeth Grocke

Secretary Terese Winchcombe

Treasurer Hazel Taylor

Assistant Treasurer Cheryl Sintome

Librarian Margy Mott

Workshop Convenor Karen Bennet

There was much discussion about the bus trips, workshops, fundraising raffles, community projects and social get togethers that we shared over the past year and everyone agreed that it was a successful year.

It was decided to elect an assistant treasurer to share the many tasks of the job of treasurer. The role of Promotions officer / Newsletter coordinator has been added to the position of Vice President.

The first workshop of the year was discussed and it has been agreed that we will work together to make a joint fundraising / community quilt. We will begin this on 8th July 2008.

The AGM was followed by a delicious shared lunch.

BACK ON LINE

Meg's Quilt made especially for her Mum's 80th Birthday.

Its great to be back online again and also to catch up with you at the Chenille Cushion workshop. It was a terrific day and the workshop very relaxing. I have made two cushions and will be showing them to my small quilt group up here at Saddleworth. They are all interested to hear what we do at Aldinga Quilters. Our group at Aldinga is so industrious and a credit to every member for their ideas and boundless enthusiasm. Hope the Biggest Morning Tea raffle sales are going well!

Christmas Lunch 2007

On December 11th we celebrated a very happy Christmas / end of year lunch at The Aldinga Institute. Everyone contributed to make it a very special day full of shared friendships, food and gifts.

The theme for the day was 'An Australian Christmas' and everyone entered into the spirit of the day. The hall was full of the scent of Gum tree as everyone enjoyed playing the Aussie themed games.

While we had no way of knowing, this was to be the last day many of us would share with our friend AdeleProbert. Unfortunately, Adele passed away peacefully a few days later and I am glad to have the wonderful memories of Adele that this day provided. Adele had spent many weeks planning and organising our wonderful Aussie 'Christmas Tree, and her husband Trevor had given his morning helping Adele and Maureen decorate the tree and transform the hall into an Aussie bush Christmas.

I'd hate to leave anyone out, so I'll just say a big Thank You for all the contributions that made this day a very special one.
