Barbara's Quilt

Nancy's First Quilt

Congratulations Nancy on completing your first quilt. This was another of Hazel's projects for the year and we think it looks so colourful and well done. Nancy is Barbara's sister and it was good to share in her joy of finishing her first quilt.

End of Year Luncheon 2006

We all shared our end of year breakup luncheon last Tuesday and everyone had a great day. The shared buffet and refreshments were just right, Meg's quiz game great fun with some of the questions stretching our minds! Our landscape challenge winner was announced by Hazel after much deliberation. The standard of entries was high and our congratulations go to Maureen Cameron for her landscape with pelicans entry. Well done to all who participated - your work was top notch.

I wish to extend my best wishes to all of our members and their families for the Christmas Season and for everyone a very Happy New Year. We have lots planned already for the New Year so it looks as if it will be another busy year. Have a great break.

Friends & Christmas lunch

Yesterday the Aldinga Quilters celebrated with a Christmas lunch at the Middle Pub at Willunga. This means I have nearly reached the end of my first year as a member of the Aldinga Quilters.
I have learned so much from my fellow members during this time, but there is seldom an opportunity to let them know how much I appreciate their help, friendship, support and encouragement. I have really enjoyed the spirit of friendship, camaraderie and charity that is the essence of the Aldinga Quilters and I would like to thank one and all for welcoming me to their group and sharing so generously their friendship and knowledge.
Merry Christmas to All, and I look forward to a wonderful new year.

Christmas is Near

Great work Marlene. We loved your Christmas advent calendar....

Brenda & Quilt

Brenda's Quilt

We held a busy and talkative meeting today with lots of members present. Some good ideas for next year to plan and look forward to.

Much to her surprise Brenda was presented with this beautiful heart quilt made by our members. A special gift for a very special friend.

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Our agenda for today's meeting was quite full. The Christmas Lunch will be held at Wingarth House (The Middle Pub) in Willunga on 28th November, 2006 at 12.00. Your Little Quilts of Love will be judged by viewers choice on that day. We will also be sharing an end of year buffet lunch at the hall on 12th December, 2006. This will include a quiz day and it will be great to get together for these fun end of year events.
Sandra Fitts made a surprise visit today and it was great to see her again. She and Colin have settled back on the mainland are are now living in Victoria. Good luck to you both.
Don't forget your landscape challenge due on 12th December, 2006. The quilts will be judged and there will be a great prize for the lucky winner. So get going ladies!
Karen has invited any members who would like a lesson on using the blog site to visit her house during our next meeting on 24th November at 1.00 pm. Hope this will help everyone to be confident in posting more news, hints etc. in the future.

Betty's Quilt

We were all pleasantly surprised today to have a visit from Betty, one of our past members. It was fun to catch up with her news and see some of the work she has been undertaking in Tasmania. The quilt pictured above was made and kindly donated to the club by Betty to help with our fundraising ventures.

Foundation Paper Piecing Workshop

We all enjoyed another fun day with Hazel teaching us all basics of foundation paper piecing.
What a great exercise in using all of those left over pieces of fabric and finishing with a truly lovely quilt. Can't wait to see them all completed. Thank you Hazel for an enjoyable workshop.

Members having their blood sugar levels checked by Joanne

I have arrived at last!!! Would like to share with you the photo of Melva's quilt made especially for her by all of our group members. We all enjoyed a visit from her today as everyone in the group has missed her terribly.

We also enjoyed a talk and discussion with Joanna on Women's Health and found this very interesting indeed. Joanna was very interesting and had some great ideas to keep us up to date with our health.

How to post a message

In case you are wondering how to post a message, just click on the Blogger in the top left hand corner of the page (on the blue strip at the top). That will take you to the page where you write your messages and add your photos etc. Hope to hear from you soon.

Healing hearts quilt

Just a few of the beautiful heart blocks made by members to create a healing hearts quilt. Quilters don't usually receive quilts, yet we are the ones who really appreciate them. So we are making this quilt to give Melva a happy surprise.

Dyeing workshop

I'm amazed with the rainbow of beautiful colours that my laces became. Next time I'll have to try some pastels.

Welcome to the Aldinga Quilters Web log

Please enjoy using this web log (or blog for short) as a fun means of sharing information and keeping in touch with members, both new and old. It provides us with so many more opportunities to record the history of The Aldinga Quilters as a group, and also gives each member a way to share their memories and thoughts as well as useful information and ideas.
Group activities such as workshops, outings, exhibitions and displays can be discussed and wonderful memories documented and shared.
You are welcome to add your own quilt photos and to view the photos of other members, a sort of internet show and tell. You might also like to comment on the ideas and photos that other members have added to provide feedback and inspiration (please try to keep it positive).
You might like to mention a new craft shop you've discovered, a link to a great quilting web site or share a recipe you love. We can add new techniques we've learned (when you are sewing your quilt at midnight and you just can't remember the next step, you can check it out here instead of waiting til the morning to ring someone and ask). This is also a great place to ask questions, you never know who might have the answer to that problem you just can't solve.
